nAppliance nUAG and DirectAccess, Better Together !!

nAppliance nUAG remote access appliance platform is a next generation, high-performance application access and security solution which unifies a Web application firewall, SSL VPN, endpoint security to enable secure application access, access control and content inspection for a wide variety of line-of-business applications. Together these technologies provide mobile and remote workers with easy and flexible secure application access from a broad range of devices and locations including both managed and unmanaged PCs, mobile devices and kiosks.

DirectAccess is a new feature in the Windows® 7 and Windows Server® 2008 R2 operating systems that seamlessly connects remote users to the corporate network any time they have Internet access. With DirectAccess, users can securely access corporate resources without having to go through a virtual private network (VPN). Since Microsoft UAG is built on top of Windows Server 2008 R2, it inherits the underlying DirectAccess capability from Windows and adds few additional functionalities like NAT64, DNS64 and defining the Infrastructure servers.

 Key Benefits

  1. Anywhere Access . DirectAccess provides anywhere access to your mobile workforce by offering the same connectivity experience both in and outside of the office. DirectAccess provides easy access to your corporate resources when they are at a coffee shop, Airport or at home.
  2.  Reduce IT Cost . With DirectAccess, mobile computers can be managed any time the mobile computer has Internet connectivity, even if the user is not logged on. This allows remote computers to be managed regularly and helps ensure mobile users stay up-to-date with security and system health policies. This helps in reducing the overall cost for managing the IT infrastructure.
  3.  Improved Security . With the use of IPsec, Encryption, Smart Card authentication and optionally using Network Access Protection (NAP), DirectAccess provides a secure and reliable access to the corporate resources. IT administrators can also configure the DirectAccess server to restrict the servers that users and individual applications can access.
